“Peacockering” evolved from an affectionate term from a friend of my husband. He calls us the Peacockers – Peacock is really our name. And so Peacockering is about what we do: travel, explore, and greet those in cultures new to us, wherever my husband’s Air Force employment takes us.
Currently we’re in Alaska, and in 2010 we’ll be moving to Germany. I write community and military coverage for The Alaska Star, write a column on military lifestyle for This Arctic Life, taste dishes at Anchorage restaurants for examiner.com and write travel and cultural features as well. My work has also appeared in Elle, New York Magazine, and American Way.
This blog will evolve into a travel & story resource, for those planning trips in Alaska or (and?) Europe, and for those who like a good read. There are many many stories to discover. Isn't that why we travel - to return with a good story?
